30 Oct Why Every Author Needs An Email List ASAP!
So even if you are making a few sales without an email list by way of ads or social media, I can tell you that the comparison is far to none when it comes to having your own personal go to list of readers.
In todays self-publishing market, with everyone and their cousins publishing a book, the likelihood that your eBook will go unnoticed is a virtual certainty.
An email list is the ultimate direct advertisement, a personal indication to your readers that your book, in the sea of millions of others available, is the one that they want. So basically it’s a personal invitation.
So here are my 3 essential reasons why everyone should build an email list asap.
Reason #1. A saturated market
In 2018, total eBook sales pushed almost 270 million copies, and almost 130,000 people self-published an e-book.
Amazon’s catalog contains over 3.5 million Kindle titles, a number that is increasing by the hour.
As an author, you will need to do everything in your power to cut through the noise of eBooks.
Reason #2. You don’t own social media
Always remember that when it comes to the giants like Facebook or Twitter, you always have to play by their rules.
These rules can affect where you advertise, when you advertise and how you advertise, and can run the risk of limiting your exposure.
At the end of the day, selling books is like a crap shot. Some readers will find you, most will not.
Reason #3. Earn your readers trust
Once someone has subscribed to your email list, the hardest part is over, because You have earned the trust of your reader.
This trust almost always translates into sales: your subscribers know that when your email pops up in their inbox, something good is about to happen, and they trust that the high-quality products that you’ve provided for them before will be available again.
Trust is earned and kept until broken, so make sure you work as hard as you can to never break it.
Benefits of having an email list of subscribers
- You’ll have hundreds or thousands of fans waiting for your next release.
- These fans will purchase your book the first week it comes out.
- Your subscribers/ fans will leave a review.
- A surge of sales in your launch week will propel your book to #1 in that category that you listed it.
- Your #1 ranking will drive sales even more by populating your title on other peoples bookshelf that have purchased similar books as yours in the past.
Until next time, stay positive and keep writing!
