I like to pride myself in saying that I am a writer, publisher and entrepreneur. I am extremely passionate about writing, all kinds of writing.
I’ve been writing for over 15 years. I have successfully published 10 novels of my own and Ghostwritten 5. My series My Man’s Best Friend, sold over 150,000 copies on Amazon making me a bestselling author and a very happy girl.
I started my writing career off by participating in various esteemed writing programs such as: The Bill Cosby Writing Workshop, The ABC Writing Fellowship as well as Warner Bros. Comedy Writing Program, this in turn lead to a staff writing position on the CW sitcom Girlfriends. I later branched off to other avenues of writing such as screenplays, stage plays and books.
I’m learning that writing is a journey and that success comes with patience, diligence and a lot of hard work. I take my hat off too all writers, in all areas of our crazy arena.
I am creative and passionate about writing and life. If I am not hanging out with friends, hiking in the California mountains or playing Uno with my daughter, you can find me typing away at my keyboard.
I’ve learned a lot, failed a lot and and over the many years, writing has taught me a few things.
Nothing can stand between what I want and what I can achieve. It has taught me that success is not easy and does not come in an instant download, but through hours, months and years of hard work. This is not an overnight success gig.
It has taught me that focus, determination and tenacity will always win in the end no matter what you set out to do. It has taught me patience in our world of instant gratification.
The sky is the limit, and everyone can benefit from someone sharing what he or she knows and loves. Yes, we should all practice #eachoneteachone.
Lastly, it has taught me that success cannot be done alone, we all need a tribe, a sense of support. and that is what brings me to my last and most important point.
I created Brown Girls Who Write as a platform to be seen and heard. I have to be honest, it’s rough out there in the writing world and even tougher for women of color… but not impossible. This site is here for you to find the support you need and desire through encouragement, tips and resources. Your time is now!
