The Internet has never been more profitable; everyone is starting to realize this very quickly. Modern writers are now making a full-time income online and the potential for this is only growing with leaps and bounds. Online writing has become an open platform for literally every type of writer to express their talents through a vast array of avenues. From eBooks, to blogs to copywriting, to magazine writing, the list is endless. If you can type, you can create online content. The competition is fierce. Standing out and achieving online success will quickly become a challenge. Eventually, just being a good writer won’t be good enough; you will have to be superb.

So even if you are making a few sales without an email list by way of ads or social media, I can tell you that the comparison is far to none when it comes to having your own personal go to list of readers.

In todays self-publishing market, with everyone and their cousins publishing a book, the likelihood that your eBook will go unnoticed is a virtual certainty.

An email list is the ultimate direct advertisement, a personal indication to your readers that your book, in the sea of millions of others available, is the one that they want. So basically it’s a personal invitation.

So here are my 3 essential reasons why everyone should build an email list asap.

An ISBN, or International Standard Book Number, is a special type of identification number for books that is issued by the company R. R. Bowker. A book’s hardcover, paperback, and ebook format will all need their own ISBN numbers, as will each subsequent edition of that book, which can get expensive. It’s no wonder that many authors are wondering if it’s necessary for them to buy their own.

Although ISBNs aren’t currently required for eBooks, you do still need on in order to sell on many online platforms or to make physical copies available in a bookstore. Some publishers will offer to issue an ISBN for you and include the price with your publishing package, and with websites like Amazon or Barnes and Noble issuing their own types of identification numbers on top of it, an ISBN can seem like an unneeded expense.

People ask me all the time how I find the time to write. Between my full time work schedule, my eight year old daughter and my booming social schedule (well maybe half booming social schedule), The simple answer is... I don't try to find the time, I MAKE the time. In essence, I choose writing. In life, everything is a choice. You can choose to write or you can choose to bing watch 'Insecure' or 'This is US'.  You can choose to write or you can choose to sleep in until 8am each morning. See, it's not about not having the time to write, it's all about making the choice to do it. Of course I'm not perfect, although I do have 7 novels out, but that doesn't mean I don't slack off from time to time, we all do. The key is to keep that to a minimum if you want to eventually start and finish a novel or even that series of blog post. So here are my 3 simple rules to making the time to write.

How do you start a successful blog?

For starters, it doesn’t happen overnight. It takes effort and time. It’s a journey, an uphill battle at times. Many writers want to be that next blogging success, but few are willing to do the necessary steps to actually make that happen. Blogging is tough, time consuming and most of the time comes with little to no praise from the readers you pump out content day in and day out for. So you ask yourself, what do I need to do to lay the groundwork that will eventually open the flood gates to success in Blogging.

A lot of my success as a self-published author has come from selling a few of my books for .99cents. Although this wasn't my first game plan, I quickly realized after months and months of very little sales I had to do something different. Like most new authors, I was excited and anxious to finally make money off my book series that I put blood sweat and tears into. I had heard stories of authors making thousands of dollars on Amazon and I was so ready to give it a try. I quickly uploaded my books onto all the E-book platform, then sat back and waited for my hundreds of thousands of dollars to start rolling in. Unfortunately after 3 months I had only sold about 15 ebooks total, impressive huh? Yeah, not so much. This wasn't the success I had hoped and dreamed about and I knew something had to change.

In a world gone online, everything is now at our fingertips. This has opened the door to people taking their money and business into their own hands. It is easier than ever to be able to open your own business, run your own virtual company and even publish your own work. When it comes to publishing one’s own work, there are multiple options. Some people choose to pay hefty prices for a company to do all the work regarding their publishing, whereas others opt out of the traditional way and utilize self-publishing companies. Here are some pros and cons when conducting your research on which choice may be better for you:

In today’s world, SEO is more important than ever. Despite this, many bloggers miss out on a lot of potential traffic by neglecting to optimize their blog posts for search engine bots. This is usually because they don’t know how to do it properly, but while there is a lot that goes into search engine optimization, getting started is easy and doesn’t take a lot of time to master.
